A new study reveals that most men change hairstyles only three times during their entire adult years. On the contrary, one in every six women changes hairstyle four times in a year, summing up to 50 upon reaching adulthood.
Crown Clinic, a hair transplant center in Manchester, UK, conducted this study through a poll involving 1,000 males and females.
Besides the frequency of hairstyle changes, the poll also showed the most common reasons why people change their hairdos. Among men, 36% change hairstyles because of boredom over one’s look, 12% due to hair loss, 15% because of the changing fashion, and 12% due to a celebrity’s influence.
On the other hand, 45% of the females stated that they adopt hairstyles that are inspired by famous celebrities. About 42% change hair to follow fashion trends, 32% to avoid bad hair days, and 16% due to greying hair.
According to Dr. Asim Shahmalak, Crown Clinic’s hair transplant specialist, baldness and thinning of hair significantly influence men to consider a change of hairstyle. Instead of shaving off their heads, more men choose to undergo hair transplants to induce hair growth in bald areas of the head.
The survey also identified celebrities with the most popular and best-looking hairstyles. Thirty-seven percent of the men in the survey consider British football star David Beckham as their hair icon. Women, on the other hand, admire the hairdos of English television host Holly Willoughby’s.
