Celebrity couple David and Victoria Beckham donated some of their belongings to the British Red Cross to generate funds for the typhoon victims in the Philippines.

The Philippines experienced the wrath of Super Typhoon Haiyan on the first week of November this year. Because of its great intensity, Haiyan severely affected thousands of Filipino families. While the victims are trying to move on from the disaster, immediate help is still much needed.

Victoria, a former member of the British singing group Spice Girls and now a fashion designer, gave some of her designer shoes and clothes. On the other hand, football superstar David Beckham donated some of his jumpers, suits, and shoes. In total, the couple was able to give 20 boxes of their belongings.

The British Red Cross put the couple’s items on sale in West London last November 22. The couple assigned reasonable prices for all the items so more people would have the opportunity to purchase an item. However, customers were limited to buy only one of David’s or Victoria’s items.

British Red Cross spokesperson Laura Hinks said that David and Victoria had set an example. With this initiative, people can be encouraged to donate and offer any form of assistance for the typhoon victims.

This instance is not the first time that Victoria donated her belongings for a certain cause. In 2010, she also donated some of her things to raise money for cancer patients.
