An eight-year-old second grader in the United States earns more than a million every year by posting videos of him playing with his toys on YouTube.
Evan, with the help of his father, became popular for giving reviews of toys and some video games. Their videos generate money through advertisements. Due to the success of the videos, Evan’s YouTube account now has a sales team responsible for managing the advertisement deals from different brands.
Evan and his father Jared first uploaded a video using clay models. Making videos was their way of playing and spending time with each other. Jared uploaded their video in YouTube and was delighted when people started viewing it. Once a month, Evan and Jared would create videos and share them with their viewers.
Other kids like Evan have also earned money from their YouTube videos. In 2008, David DeVore Jr., then a 7-year-old, earned more than $100,000 from his video showing his reaction after his tooth surgery.
Another video involving kids that generated money is that of Harry and Charlie Davies-Carr. The hilarious video, shot and uploaded in 2011, shows how Charlie, the younger brother, bit Harry’s finger. Howard, the kids’ father and the video uploader, earned over £100,000 (or more than $160,000) because of the video.
Aside from earning through advertisements, there are other ways to earn money using YouTube. One is to make videos that promote products to YouTube viewers. Another way is putting virtual “tip jars” in the YouTube video uploader’s profile. With this, subscribers can donate any amount of money to the uploader.
