A new and healthier alternative to popcorn as a movie snack is now available in some theaters in the United States.
The new snack called EdaMovie was launched during the 2015 CinemaCon held at Caesars [SEE-zers] Palace in Las Vegas from April 20 to 23. The company of EdaMovie has partnered with the organization Variety, The Children's Charity to produce this movie snack.
EdaMovie is a ready-to-eat snack made of soybean or edamame pods, which require to be heated before serving. Each bag of this snack weighs eight ounces. It is made from natural ingredients and is high in protein, low in calories, and gluten-free.
The target consumers of EdaMovie are moviegoers who do not consume the usual food sold in concession stands. Thus, EdaMovie will not directly compete with the usual movie snacks. Ever since its launch, EdaMovie has received praises and a national award for its creativity and innovativeness.
Aside from EdaMovie, other food companies have also produced their own healthier versions of movie snacks. The company Kickers, for example, has released its powdered fruit blend that can be mixed with popcorn. The product has no artificial flavors, ingredients, and preservatives. Other companies that have produced their own healthy movie snacks include Dole Foods, Waldman [WAWLD-muh n] Naturals, PepsiCo Inc., and Hershey’s [HUR-shees].
An article by Health.com also featured eight movie snacks with less than 80 calories. These snacks include Lifesavers, Junior Mints, Mike and Ikes [ahyks], Yogurt Dots, Snow Caps, Jelly Belly Strawberries and Blueberries, and Divvies popcorn.
