A new type of restaurant is slated to become the next big thing in the food business – 3D-printing restaurants.
Joining London’s growing list of unique diners, Food Ink is set to enter the scene as the first ever 3D-printing restaurant. The unconventional eatery lives up to its name not only by serving 3D-printed dishes, but also by featuring furniture crafted using the said innovation.
Food Ink is composed of a pool of chefs, designers, inventors, and technologists. The company is dedicated to transforming the food landscape through its one-of-a-kind creations.
While the upscale restaurant will likely appeal to food enthusiasts who are in constant search of adventure, other customers might think twice, as the fixed nine-course meal will cost £250 per head.  Food Ink’s unique dishes will only be available for a limited time, and only ten guests will get to try this dining experience.
Despite Food Ink’s assertion that it is the pioneer in the business, 3D Printshow Kitchen, another restaurant with the same concept, opened in 2015.
In addition, prominent chef Paco Perez has also been trying his hand at crafting dishes using a 3D-printing machine called Foodini. Dubbed “Sea Coral”, Perez’s signature 3D-printed dish is made of ingredients such as caviar [KAV-ee-ahr], sea urchins, and eggs.
Considering the growing market for 3D-printing restaurants, suppliers are confident that 3D-printing devices will eventually become a kitchen staple.
